Oitavos Dunes is set in Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Surrounded by pine and dunes in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, the presence of the sea is a constant along the course, accompanied by the beauty of the Sintra Mountains and Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe, which can be seen from holes 9, 10, 11 and 14.
The course has been carefully designed by one of the best golf architects, former president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Arthur Hills.
Arthur Hills has preserved the unique characteristics of the land, creating a 6,303-meter field.
Environmental certification was obtained through Audubon International, an American Environmental Association. Sustainability of resources is its main objective and as a consequence the fauna and flora characteristic of the region are carefully protected and some areas are closed to people and machines.
Oitavos Dunes is the first golf course in Europe and the second in the world recognized as Certified Signature Sanctuary - Gold. It is already regarded as one of the best golf courses in Europe, where a relaxed and stress-free return is possible at any time of the year.
