The Aleijadinho Museum is located in Ouro Preto, in the state of Minas Gerais.
It has been in operation at the Mother Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição by Antônio Dias since 1968, under the initiative of Father Francisco Barroso Filho. .
It has about 250 sacred pieces, in addition to graphic documents. Among Aleijadinho's works on display at the museum are wooden lions that served as a support for solemn ceremonies; a polychrome soapstone image of São Francisco de Paula, which "concentrates all the virtuosity and stylistic manifestations of the master"; and the Crucified. The collection also includes vertebrae and a metacarpal attributed to Aleijadinho.
On November 27, 2007 and during the programming of the 30th Aleijadinho Week, it was reopened expanded and with a requalified project, proposed by Haron Cohen and curated by the Portuguese historian José de Monterroso Teixeira, by including multimedia resources, a consistory for temporary exhibitions and themed and permanent rooms - Refulgence, Religious Parties, Art in Carving, Mini-auditorium, Multivision Room, Death Staging Room, Church of São Francisco de Assis, Church of Nossa Senhora das Mercês e Perdões.
