The Portal de San Antonio is one of the gates in the wall of Tarragona that are still preserved and the largest of them. The current door is not of Roman origin, but was built in Savinosa stone with marble applications in 1737 in the Baroque style.
On the semicircular arch, you can see the shield of Felipe V, flanked by lions. In the key of the arch, there is the shield of Tarragona. On the sides there are two pilasters with Roman-style military trophies. Registered on the portal, you can read ´´THIS WORK WAS DONE REIGNING ... MONA ... EL .... ´´ and ´´BEING GOVERNOR DESTA PLAZA DON JUAN DE PRADO YEAR 1737´´.
